To the beglerbegi of Şam. A big Venetian barca sailed from İskenderun port to Venice with merchandise worth of 400 000 gold. Close to the port of Sayfa its merchandise, cannons and 'alat's were brought down to the land, Emir Ahmed and his kethüda, who is a janissary from Şam and also the iskele emini, Abdulkadir, and katib Mustafa, and two people called Selim …… and Selim …… confiscated the merchandise, cannons and belongings of the barca, and killed or enslaved many Venetians. They refused that they have the goods to the translator of the Venetian bailo who was sent to Halep for this business [Giuliano Salvago]. The translator came back to Haleb and then to the Sublime Porte, and the beglerbegi Sinan and Venetian bailo in Haleb also sent a petition. Accordingly, all the merchandise and belongings should be returned to Venetians.
